Your first stop for Ham Radio!
Simply put, Amateur Radio (also called "Ham" Radio) is a two-way radio service regulated by the Federal Communications Commission.
Its main purpose is to provide emergency and public service communications during disasters (usually when power is unavailable).
We are licensed by the F.C.C. and provide this service at no cost. In fact, it is illegal for us to accept pay! But it is much more than that.
The best part of this "hobby" is our ability to experiment with radio to improve communication
technology.
There are many aspects to the service to list here. However, an entry-level license is easy to acquire.
